APC20 demo explained

APC20 demo explained

Both n4Sphere & Algorhythmik wanted to know about how I setup last weeks APC20 demo set so thats exactly what im going to do. An explanation of my fx rack, midi mappings and suggestions to improve this setup to take it further.

I forgot to mention in this video I had a HP filter on the master channel mapped to the 4th fader for the demo too.

Also note that entrys to win the KJ Sawka sample pack have been few so you still a good chance to win it, check out the samples page for details.

    Hey Rupert,

Cheers, great job!! I really like your idea with the beatrepeater and the grid limiting. Personally I also prefer faders instead of knobs for FX. Now everything oft your mapping is clear. As usual I have a question :) You mentioned (somewhere near the end) that you would use the first 4 clip rows for launching clips and the last 4 rows for eg. fx, but normally if you scroll down also the last rows scroll down. So you have to remap your fx buttons, but what do you mean with hardmap? Are the standard mapping of the apc overwritten if you map them on your own?

PS: I personally would like to see or hear a real short “mixtape” with your favorite music and your favorite gear, tools etc. Are you using Ableton for digital mixing or some kind of live act? On the other hand I would like to know which equipment do you prefer for DJing, digital or analog stuff?

Hey, thank you Rupert! I really appreciate the time you put in to these videos.

    Hey Daniel,
If you manually map a function to a pad the default behavior is
replaced. So once you map a pad to an effect it will always trigger
that effect and the scrolling will have no effect to that pad.
(Hard map is not a real term, that just came out and should probably be disregarded)

I will have a think about the mix tape thing, not quite sure how to present that…

Hi Rupert, Im looking at buying this unit to go with my Ableton Live.  What are the APC20 Faders build quality like? After a few months of hard use, are they any looser than they were originally?

Like most the Akai stuff its built well. No the faders dont seems to slack at all, on my APC40 at least they see good as new.
