The XR20 is more like a minimal RS7000 to me. I love the blue lights.

You can even load micron or Ion program patches! This is an awesome synth when coupled with an MAudio Uno and Hypersynth editor! You can really get close to many analog synths due to the modulation matrix and filters. Vocoder is ehh, though.

This Synth caught my Eye at a local music outlet, W/ medium knowledge of Keyboards/effect units ect…This synth is very hands on!! easy to use, Had sounds I Love within minutes….I'm looking forward to buying this unit very soon!!!

The Miniak is a Micron the same way a Saab 9-2x is a Subaru WRX. Different skin, exact same internals. Same preset patch names and everything. Not that that's a bad thing, but just FYI.

Hey this is GREAT advice using the cable and Micron editor would help the experience big time.

Also there is a good choice of filters the reason they weren't mentioned is I am trying to keep episodes under 10mins at the moment (Main because of attention spans and the 10 min limit on YouTube videos).

Geared at live use … agreed .
However an E-MU XMIDI 1X1 Tab ($30. cable no lup in the line converter )and one of the many free Micron editors available for windows and mac and it's got serious studio power too !

One omission I have to note that I think is a major selling point for this synth … 16 different filter types including ARP , 303 18db , Jupiter 8 , combs , and SEM emulations to go along with the now obligatory “moog” 24db LP .
As far as the ION /MIcron / Miniak deal … who cares if it's the same engine if that engine is good ?

Micron DNA? It IS a Micron. They refer to it as the Micron in a few typos in the manual. The XR20 is also a re-packaged Alesis drum machine.
